Chairman Lee has been engaged in brisk business activities since his inauguration as Samsung Electronics chairman, but warning signals have been issued as Samsung is engulfed in a crisis.
Pundits inside and outside the business community expected Chairman Lee to come up with steps to cope with pending risks on the occasion of celebrating his two years in office.
Chairman Lee did not hold any anniversary event or issue a separate message, however. Instead, he met with Hyundai Motor Group Chairman Chung Eui-sun and explored ways of nurturing the automotive parts business, picked as one of the future growth engines, and building up a close partnership with the automaker.
Chairman Lee¡¯s encounter with Hyundai Motor Group Chairman Chung took place on Oct. 27 ass he took part in the ¡°Hyundai N x TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Festival¡± at the Speedway of Everland in Yongin, Gyeonggi-do.
The festival was hosted jointly by Hyundia Motor Group and Japan¡¯s Toyota Group to boost motor sports.
Attention of the business community was focused on the first meeting by chairmen of Hyundai Motor Group, the world¡¯s 3rd biggest automaker by sales, and Toyota Group, the world¡¯s biggest automaker.
Chairman Lee met with Hyundai Motor Group Chairman Chung and Toyota Motor Chairman Akio Toyoda and discussed ways of cooperating.
A business source said Chairman Lee toured Everland, the venue of the festival, and one of Samsung Group¡¯s subsidiaries, and met with Chairman Chung and Chairman Toyoda.
Chairman Lee¡¯s tour to the festival may be interpreted as his willingness to aggressively foster the automotive parts business, selected by Samsung Group¡¯s growth engine.
Chairman Lee has devoted himself to securing the super difference competitiveness of the vehicle parts business from a long time ago.

With about 3,000 developers, partners and media in attendance, Han Jong-Hee (JH), Vice Chairman, CEO and Head of Device eXperience (DX) Division at Samsung Electronics said, ¡°We have continued our journey of innovation with our many developers and partners for the last ten years,¡± highlighting the importance of open collaboration to strengthen both competitiveness and mutual growth in today¡¯s AI era.
JH shared further detail surrounding the company¡¯s commitment to using AI technology to offer stronger security, advanced personalization, better family care experiences, and new opportunities for B2B businesses.
¡°Samsung Electronics will continue advancing AI technology to a level where AI automatically recognizes each user individually — from their voice to their location — to provide a more personalized experience,¡± he explained.
¡°These efforts will create more convenient and secure multi-device experiences by leveraging Samsung¡¯s AI-based software, platform innovation, and security technology.¡±
In addition, the company announced that it will integrate the software experience of its major product lines — from mobile devices to TVs and home appliances — under the name One UI next year.
By providing a cohesive product experience and committing to software upgrades for up to seven years, Samsung will continue to bring innovation for its customers.
