Korea South-East Power Co. (KOEN) held a business report session among its five power units, and participants representing their headquarters made their pledge to achieve this year¡¯s goals and solving pending issues under management the tenets - creativity and challenging spirit.
In the session, presided over by KOEN President Kang Ki-yoon on Jan. 13, five power headquarters – Yeongheung, Samcheonpo, Yeosu, Bundang and Yeongdong Eco power complexes – shared 2025 plans and pending issues, according to the respective CEO¡¯s instructions.
During the session, participants discussed ways of reinvigorating the slumping domestic economy, the direction of the implementation of projects together with regional development, and building external cooperation regimes at the direction of the CEO.
During the session, President Kang called for improving the accuracy of its budget predictions, and thoroughly managing profit and loss according to raw material costs and market fluctuations.
He emphasized the need for an in-depth look into any waste in the execution of the budget, and delved ways of optimizing the use of resources and improving the efficiency of power generation facilities.
President Kang also stressed the significance of safety management.
He requested support so that workers can work in a safe environment by introducing safety systems utilizing advanced technologies, such as AI and detailed safety procedures. He called for establishing a safety-first culture and an institutionalized safety system..
He also emphasized the need for aggressively communicating with related outside institutions, and raising reliability by preparing materials based on rationale and systemization.
President Kang said, ¡°The report session has served as an opportunity for us to not only pledge our determination before embarking on major projects for this year, but also share this year¡¯s company goals and strategies, and make efforts to realize achievements with all members¡¯ unified. Let us make efforts to take our company international , beyond sustainable, growth through these communication opportunities.¡±
In his New Year¡¯s message, KOEN President Kang said, ¡°Given Korea¡¯s characteristics, in which the nation depends on imports for most of our energy resources, uncertainties over the international situation have spurred fuel cost hikes.
Renewable energies to cope with climate change, the construction of alternative energies and the development of new projects remain some of the tasks that can no longer be put off.¡±
He proposed four major tasks – securing new future growth engines by securing distributed power sources, securing the competitiveness of the existing power generation facilities, creativity and challenging spirit, and safety and reliability management.
President Kang said, if we secure the hegemony of the future energy industry by spearheading eco-friendly energy sectors, we will achieve our goal of being a global energy company.
