Seoul Int¡¯l Garden Show, which attracted some 7.8 million spectators last year, is taking place at Boramae Park in southwestern Seoul from May 22 until Oct. 20.

Seoul Int¡¯l Garden Show 2025 is the 10th rendition. The Seoul Metropolitan Government (SMG) expects the upcoming show to be held in the largest-ever area and over the longest-ever period, attracting an estimated 10 million spectators.

SMG said Seoul Int¡¯l Garden Show 2025 will be held at Boramae Park covering 396,000 sq. meters.

Seoul Int¡¯l Garden Show 2024, which created 90 gardens at the Ttukseom Han River Park, brought together 7.8 million spectators.

Lee Soo-yeon, director-general in charge of garden city at SMG, said, ¡°Seoul Int¡¯l Garden Show is Seoul¡¯s representative event in which citizens take care together and participate.¡±

¡°Boramae Park is a park most frequented by people in Seoul, and Seoul Int¡¯l Garden Show 2025 is prepared specially using green aurora, the color of the capital,¡± Lee said.

The theme of the upcoming expo is ¡°Seoul, Green Soul.¡±

The expo aims to make the whole of Seoul a breathing garden by prioritizing respect and love for nature, which is deeply rooted in Seoul¡¯s history, culture and citizens¡¯ lives.

The number of gardens increased from 90 last year to 111 this year, with more diverse entities participating.

The number of gardens made by companies and institutions for the cause of private-public sector collaboration and shared growth has risen from 21 to 33.

Besides, multi-purpose culture and leisure space will be created like ¡°Garden Mark¡± in which garden and leisure-related brands participate and garden culture programs based on themes.

A variety of sales booths and food trucks are allowed to be set up during the expo.

Among the 111 gardens are designer gardens, ¡°companion gardens¡± in which students, citizens, multicultural families and local wards participate, ¡°product gardens,¡± made by companies, institutions and local governments, and ¡°attractive gardens¡± with stories about Seoul.

The expo showcases two invitational gardens and five contest gardens involving Korean and foreign artists.

The invitational garden artists are Park Seung-jin, the winner of SMG Garden Award 2024 with an invitation garden, titled ¡°The Third Track¡± and German artist Mark Krieger with an invitation garden titled ¡°Aviators Garden.¡±

Park¡¯s garden brings the concept of "nature and the city" together, representing a vision of how green spaces can coexist with urban environments.

It integrates elements of urban life into a dynamic, interactive garden.

A design inspired by aviation and flight, creating an immersive experience where nature meets the sky.

Krieger¡¯s garden symbolizes freedom and the spirit of exploration through various creative installations.

The companion gardens, designed with trees corresponding to their surroundings and special stories, consist of 10 student gardens, made by students majoring in gardening, and 16 others, which were made by citizens.

Eleven gardens are designed by foreigners residing in Korea.
