2025 World IT Show, the nation¡¯s largest ICT exhibition, successfully wrapped up a four-day run at COEX in Samseong-dong, Seoul, on April 27. 

The latest exhibition took place under the theme ¡°Driving Digital Transformation with AI, Leading the Future with Science & Technology¡± and the ICT industry Shared the latest trends. 

A combined 450 Korean and international companies participated in the fair. 

The international companies came from 17 countries, more than twice the number compared to last year. 

Among the Korean exhibitors were 11 Korean companies who won innovation awards at CES 2025, which took place in Las Vegas in January. 

Global buyers from 12 countries, including the United Kingdom, China and the United Arab Emirates, also held one-on-one negotiations with Korean excellent ICT companies.

The session had 679 negotiation cases, the most-ever. The value of negotiations jumped 27 percent year-on-year over 2024 to $230 million, the record amount. 

Korean large-sized companies, such as SK Telecom, KT, Samsung Electronics and LG set up larger pavilions than last year. 

Promising digital innovation companies, such as FuriosaAI, an AI semiconductor fabless company, and MegazoneCloud, a global cloud computing infrastructure company, showcased their latest world-class technologies. 

Lee Tae-hee, overseeing AI research at Samsung SDS, and Senior Executive Vice President Shin Yong-sik of SK Telecom, delivered a key-note speech at a conference on global ICT outlooks. 

Park Tae-wan, director in charge of ICT policy at the Ministry of Science and ICT, said, ¡°2025 World IT Show has been made to experience the latest ICT technology trends in Korea and the scope of foreign companies¡¯ participation has been expanded, and we will evolve it, based on this year¡¯s outcomes, so that more companies and more countries can participate and they can make practical achievements.¡± 


NIPA Introduces AI Semiconductor and Robot Application Cases at 2025 World IT Show

The National Industry Promotion Agency (NIPA) jointly operated ¡°Digital Innovation Pavilion¡± in cooperation with the Ministry of Science and ICT (MSIT) and Korea Association for ICT Promotion (KAIT) at 2025 World IT Show.

Among the exhibitors of the joint pavilion were CES and other international fair award winner companies and innovation companies whose technologies have been recognized by MSIT. 

NIPA set up ¡°AI semiconductor and robotics zone¡± at 2025 World IT Show for the first time. The agency showed how AI and robot technologies are employed both in the industry field and in real life beyond simply demonstrating of technologies. 

Park Tae-wan, director in charge of ICT policy at the Ministry of Science and ICT presided over a meeting with AI companies on the first day of the fair. 

Seven promising companies in the AI sector conveyed complaints and grievances they experience while entering overseas markets and field voices on government support policies. 

Weon Sang-ho, a division chief at NIPA, presented on ICT companies¡¯ overseas market entry success cases and outcomes of overseas market exploration delegations. 

WIS Innovation Awards were presented to companies spearheading into technology innovation. During an awards ceremony, jointly organized by the WIS Organizing Committee, NIPA President Park Yoon-kyu delivered the awards. 

The presidential award went to Senior Executive Vice President Choi Jin-seok of Samsung Electronics who commercialized the industry¡¯s first on-device generative AI technology.

NIPA President Park said, ¡°The presentation of the innovation award products has served as an opportunity to give a clear look at how AI and robot technologies will transform daily life, and we strive to have Korea¡¯s technology competitiveness known to the whole world and provide full support so that it can lead to practical industry achievements.¡± 


Former MSIT Vice Minister Park Takes Office as NIPA President to Retain AI Policies

Ex-vice minister Park Yoon-kyu of the Ministry of Science and ICT was appointed to become president of the National Industry Promotion Agency. His term is three years. 

New NIPA President Park is a seasoned policy expert in the ICT sector. He graduated from Choongang High School and Korea University Law Department and obtained a master¡¯s degree in law from Georgetown University in Washington DC. 

Park passed the 37th higher administrative examination in 1993 and held key ICT policy positions, such as ICT policy director and ICT policy deputy minister.

Under the stewardship of NIPA President, NIPA plans to focus on major tasks, such as AI infrastructure investment, district industry innovation & nurturing of new software industries and strengthening of the ICT industry¡¯s international competitiveness.
