Industrial Bank of Korea (IBK) announced on May 12 that it launched the IBK ESG Diagnosis System to support small companies¡¯ ESG management.

The IBK ESG Diagnosis System provides ESG Diagnosis Consulting to diagnose the level of corporate ESG in detail and Greenhouse Gas Inventory Consulting to measure and manage carbon emissions.

ESG Diagnosis Consulting selects customized evaluation indicators that reflect ESG regulatory needs based on 25 industrial groups and conducts diagnostic evaluations tailored to the situation of individual companies through corporate due diligence.

It also provides guidance to help companies quickly respond to ESG risks.

To improve the reliability and completeness of ESG Diagnosis Consulting, the bank reflected actual data from small companies in evaluation standards and operated an advisory group of ESG experts when designing ESG evaluation models.

Greenhouse Gas Inventory Consulting measures and analyzes a company¡¯s and its suppliers¡¯ carbon emissions in its supply chain and suggests reduction targets to achieve net zero carbon dioxide emissions.

IBK obtained a third-party system certification from an external accredited certification body to ensure the appropriateness and reliability of carbon emissions calculation.

¡°Providing improvement plans optimized for the business environment of companies based on reliable diagnostic assessments is our system¡¯s biggest differentiator compared to those of other institutions,¡± said Kim In-tae, deputy head of the Innovative Finance Group at IBK.

¡°We expect the IBK ESG Diagnosis System to provide effective solutions to small companies and exporters working with large companies as the small companies and exporters are in urgent need of the evaluation of their supply chain responses.¡±

The IBK ESG Diagnostic System is available for free on its dedicated website (esg.ibk.co.kr) after an application at any IBK branch.

Winning Carbon Management Sector Honors for 3rd Consecutive Year

IBK announced that the lender took home the Carbon Management Sector Honors at the 2024 CDP Korea Awards held on April 30.

The Carbon Management Sector Honors are awarded annually by the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), a global ESG rating organization, to the best performing companies in their respective industries based on a systematic evaluation of major companies¡¯ environmental information around the world.

IBK won the Carbon Management Sector Honors, ranking among the top companies in the financial sector for its ongoing efforts to reduce carbon emissions, strengthening ESG management, devising systematic strategies and implementing environmental risk management.

¡°We believe that IBK¡¯s carbon neutrality support for small companies is as important as the bank¡¯s own carbon neutrality efforts,¡± said an IBK official at the awards ceremony.

¡°IBK will further strengthen our organic support system for financial and non-financial sectors including green finance and ESG consulting.¡±

Meanwhile, IBK has been steadily recognized for its carbon neutrality efforts and green management achievements, including winning the Minister of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport Award for the Greenhouse Gas Target Management System in September last year, a presidential medal for contribution to the promotion of green technologies in December, and a prize for environmental information disclosure from the Minister of Environment.

Recruitment of High-Tech Talents at Gachon University

IBK announced that it held the Recruitment of Excellent College Talents in High-tech Industries at Gachon Hall of Gachon University in collaboration with the Korea Industrial Technology Association and Gachon University on April 30.

The fair featured 25 companies from the semiconductor, bio, artificial intelligence (AI), and future energy sectors to recruit talented employees and conducted on-site job interviews.

In addition, various side events such as a VR job experience center, employment motivation lectures, and interview clothes rental were held to help college students explore their careers and prepare for employment.

In particular, Gachon University has strengths in majors related to high-tech industries, including semiconductors, so excellent talents with major abilities and practical skills took part in the event and the participating companies earned positive recruitment results.

¡°We will continue to create job opportunities for young people at various sites,¡± an IBK official said.
