Woori Bank announced on May 8 that it held a meeting with Korea Water Resources Corporation (K-water) at Woori Bank¡¯s Polish Branch to discuss support for Ukraine¡¯s reconstruction and cooperation on infrastructure projects in Europe.

The meeting was attended by Jung Jin-wan, president of Woori Bank and the head of K-water Ukraine Reconstruction Task Force.

At the meeting, Woori Bank Poland and the K-water UKR Reconstruction Promotion Team in Krakow, Poland, sought cooperation on water infrastructure reconstruction projects in Ukraine and Central and Eastern Europe based on strategic partnerships.

The two organizations also discussed a wide range of cooperation measures, including financial support for the reconstruction and modernization of water supply facilities in Ukraine, jointly identifying and promoting new infrastructure projects in Poland and Eastern Europe, and the creation of an industrial city in Horodok, Ukraine.

The discussion is part of international cooperation to expand Korean companies¡¯ access to the European market and support Ukraine¡¯s reconstruction.

Woori Bank and K-water expect their steady cooperation to lead to tangible positive results.

The Ukraine Reconstruction Project aims to restore war-damaged infrastructure, reorganize essential services such as energy, housing, and healthcare, and restore the Ukrainian economy.

Currently, major international organizations such as the European Union, World Bank, and IMF, as well as major countries, are participating in the mid- to long-term project.

Jung Jin-wan visited the recently opened Polish branch of Woori Bank and examined the bank¡¯s business environment in Poland.

Jung also called for cooperation with K-water in the reconstruction process in Poland and active financial support for Korean companies doing business in Europe.

¡°This meeting went beyond cooperation, it is an opportunity to add hope to Ukraine and the European region, which is rising again from the scars of war,¡± Jung said.

¡°We will take the lead in bringing changes through close cooperation with K-water and actively participate in infrastructure projects in Europe, including reconstruction projects for Ukraine.¡±

Volunteer Plogging to Protect Marine Ecosystems

The Woori Family Volunteer Group announced on May 12 that it conducted a volunteer plogging activity to protect marine ecosystems at Eulwangni Beach in Incheon on May 10.

The volunteer group is composed of about 100 Woori Bank employees and their families.

This was the third volunteer activity following the launching ceremony of the group in March and sorting out donated items at Goodwill Store in April.

The group gave a lecture on the importance of marine ecosystems along with a plogging activity to pick up trash at Eulwangni Beach on Yeongjong Island in celebration of Ocean Day which falls on May 31.

The volunteers collected various marine debris including trash washed up from the sea and firecracker debris and made junk art works with the theme of marine life using the collected trash.

Special Day with Developmentally Disabled People

On April 19, the Woori Family Volunteer Group spent a day working with colleagues with developmental disabilities as one-day employees at Goodwill Store¡¯s Milal Geumcheon Branch.

The Woori Family Volunteer Group is a voluntary program organized by employees and their families.

This was the second volunteer activity at Goodwill Store since the establishment of the group in March.

Goodwill Store is an employment center for people with developmental disabilities that sells goods donated by individuals and companies.

The Milal Geumcheon Branch is the first store established as part of Woori Financial Group¡¯s project to open a total of 100 Goodwill Stores across the country.

On this day, the Woori Family Volunteer Group worked with their colleagues with developmental disabilities to clean the store, display items and sort out used goods for sale.

In the meantime, the Woori Family Volunteer Group also donated various items such as clothing and household goods to the Milal Geumcheon Branch to help create jobs for the disabled and circulate resources.
