KFS Hosts ¡®2025 Timber Culture Festival¡¯ at Boramae Park

Korea Forest Service (KFS) is hosting ¡°2025 Timber Culture Festival¡± in cooperation with the Seoul Metropolitan Government at Boramae Park in Dongjak-gu, Seoul, from June 14 to June 15.

Boramae Park is the venue of the 2025 Seoul Int¡¯l Garden Show.

The Timber Culture Festival is a public event designed to promote eco-friendliness and the carbon storage effects of homegrown timber and spur the use of Korean timber in daily life.

Timber Culture Festival, taking place every year since 2012, serves as an opportunity to introduce the values of homegrown timber and how to use it.

Diverse generations participate under the catchphrase ¡°Feel and Enjoy Homegrown Timbers and Practice Carbon Neutrality.¡±

On Day One, which fell on June 14, there was a timber king contest designed to experience the solidity of homegrown timber, a timber ceremony celebrating five-year newly-weds, and a timber knowledge quiz contest.

On June 15, the festival coincided with a dads¡¯ cooking contest and ¡°Tick-Tock-Tak Timber Sound Talk Show,¡± an event in which tables and chairs are made with homegrown timber and donated to social welfare facilities.

Furthermore, family spectators are given the chance to make timber rings, flower vases and toys at some 20 booths during the festival.

KFS plans to spread timber experience events to all parts of the nation so people can experience the excellence of homegrown timber and its contributions to carbon neutrality.

KFS Minister Lim Sang-seop said, ¡°Carbon stored in homegrown timbers is recognized for national greenhouse gas emission reduction achievement, and this festival is expected to serve as an opportunity for anyone to practice carbon neutrality in his or her life.¡±
