Korea East-West Power Co. (EWP) revealed AI technologies for use in the energy sector at the 2025 World IT Show, which took place at COEX in Seoul from April 24 to April 26.
The exhibition, hosted by the Ministry of Science and ICT (MSIT) and supported by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (MOTIE) was the nation¡¯s largest IT fair.
Last year, 446 companies from 10 countries participated in the 2024 World IT Show and set up 1,188 booths and the event attracted approximately 65,000 spectators.
EWP introduced energy AI-based technologies, such as a wind power digital twin platform, a virtual power plant platform, EV power grid connectivity technology platform, a small-sized power transaction brokerage platform and an algorism for optimal bidding of power transaction.

These technologies prioritize the efficiency and sustainability of the energy industry using digital technologies and AI.
EWP introduced public data the power company owns and promoted a public contest on wind power generation prediction, which now got under way.
These were designed to stress the significance of citizens¡¯ participation in technology development and the use of public data.
EWP said, ¡°We strive to promote our digital innovation capabilities in the energy sector through participation in the exhibition and plans to build a data-based energy industry ecosystem through cooperation between the private and public sectors.¡±
¡°From now on, EWP will lead a future-forward energy model combining digital technology and AI,¡± the power company said.
EWP Leads SMEs¡¯ Business Conversion amid Energy Industry Transition Era
Korea East-West Power Co. (EWP) is rolling up its sleeves to help its cooperative SMEs convert their business to the renewal energy and new business sectors.
EWP held an inaugural meeting for a project to support business conversion during 2025 on May 14.
The meeting was designed to help its cooperative SMEs, suffering from decarbonization, pivot their business to renewable and new industry sectors.
In 2023, EWP became the nation¡¯s first public entity to inaugurate the business conversion support project, calling for systematically supporting technology development and market exploration so that SMEs can cope with energy transition.
Under the project, candidate companies are divided into beginner, take-off and growth categories, according to their corporate capabilities.
EWP offers support, such as designating of convert items, technology and product development, and growth ladder capability buildup support, such as market entry, varying according to each stage of support.
The project has been recognized as an exemplary SME support program, as it was designated as ¡°Win-Win Honors Project¡± by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and the presidential award for shared growth in 2024.
Early this year, EWP established a roadmap for supporting all SMEs in the coal sector and designated 11 recipient companies through its own screening.
The power company plans to provide support to a combined 18 companies through collaboration with related institutions.
EWP President Kwon Myung-ho said, ¡°Transitioning to renewal and new businesses for realizing carbon neutrality is a task of the times, and we will ramp up support tailored for SMEs¡¯ shared growth amid an energy paradigm shift era.¡±
EWP Rated Top Grade for Sixth Straight Year in Safety Management
EWP has been classified at a ¡°top grade¡± for the sixth consecutive year in a public safety evaluation of public entities.
EWP said on May 7 the power company achieved a top-grade rating for the sixth consecutive year at the 2024 safety management classification of public entities, administered by the Ministry of Economy and Finance.
