Jeong Jeong-hoon, the new president of Korea Asset Management Corporation (KAMCO), announced his aspirations for communications and field-oriented management in his inaugural speech on May 7.

¡°I will not be a supervisor, but a colleague who works alongside you. I will be a president who works together with you on the front lines and grows together with you,¡± Jeong said.

Emphasizing ¡°putting the people front and center,¡± President Jeong is expected to lead KAMCO by leveraging his extensive knowledge and experience in domestic and international economics gained through his stellar career.

KAMCO announced on May 7 that Jeong, a former director of the Tax Policy Bureau at the Ministry of Economy and Finance, has been appointed as new president of KAMCO.

Born in 1967, new president Jeong graduated from Busan Jungang High School and Yonsei University's Department of Economics, and entered public service through the 37th Administrative Examination held by the Korean government.

Jeong is an expert with over 30 years of experience in the taxation field, having served as director of income and corporate tax policies, director of tax policy, and director of the Tax Policy Bureau at the Ministry of Economy and Finance.

¡°With his extensive knowledge and expertise in economic policy gained from his long career at the Ministry of Economy and Finance, and his experience in implementing various economic policies and expertise in taxation, Jeong is the right person to smoothly carry out the core functions of KAMCO such as the efficient management of public assets and the resolution of non-performing assets of Korean financial companies,¡± said an official of the Financial Services Commission.

While working at the Ministry of Economy and Finance, Jeong was selected three times by employees at the ministry as a boss whom they respect. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame during his days at the ministry.

President Jeong held his inauguration ceremony at KAMCO's Busan International Financial Center (BIFC) headquarters on the same day.

¡°I will place the value of serving the Korean people at the center of all KAMCO's operations,¡± Jeong stated during the inauguration ceremony.

Jeong expressed his ambition to continuously consider and implement the best things for the Korean people in all of KAMCO¡¯s business operations including supporting a recovery of marginalized groups, supporting the revitalization of small and medium-sized enterprises and promoting public welfare through the use of public assets.

Jeong emphasized bringing innovation to KAMCO. ¡°Innovation is not simply a change, but a process of constantly surpassing ourselves,¡± Jeong said.

¡°We will work together to become an institution that does not rest on past successes but always moves one step ahead.¡±

At the end of his inaugural address, Jeong revealed his belief, saying, ¡°The most important thing I have learned in my 30 years of public service is to distinguish between wrong things and different things.¡± He also emphasized the importance of communications.

KAMCO announced on June 10 that it has completed the construction of the Yeongjong Complex Cultural Center for the Jung-gu Office of Incheon Metropolitan City.

KAMCO signed a property development entrustment contract with the Jung-gu Office in 2020 for the construction of the Yeongjong Cultural Center.

Following this, a total of 484 billion won was invested to develop a building with a total floor area of 14,244 square meters, one basement floor and four above-ground floors.

It can serve as a public library, a senior citizen and disabled welfare center and a national sports center.

It is scheduled to begin full-scale operations in July.

¡°We hope that the construction of the Yeongjong Cultural Center will improve the quality of life for local residents. Going forward, KAMCO will continue to contribute to enhancing public welfare through cooperation with the central and local governments,¡± said Oh Jang-seok, director of KAMCO's Public Development Division.
