KB Kookmin Bank recently announced that it invited six Indonesian children suffering from heart disease to Korea and provided them with surgery and medical support at Samsung Medical Center in Seoul.
KB Kookmin Bank has been continuing its global social contribution project in collaboration with Samsung Medical Center, inviting Indonesian children to Korea and providing them with free surgery.
Following the successful surgery of four children in the first phase in 2024, the bank supported six more children in the second phase of this year, bringing the total number of children who have received a new lease on life to 10.
Park Seung-woo, president of Samsung Medical Center and Lee Hwan-joo, president of KB Kookmin Bank, and other officials visited the children they recovered from surgery and gave them gifts and heartfelt messages of encouragement.
KB Kookmin Bank continues to carry out projects that give hope to children. Since 2012, the bank has invited Cambodian children with heart disease to Korea annually to provide free surgery.
Their support has given 102 children a new life to 102 children to date. Additionally, in 2014, it established the ¡°KB Kookmin Bank Hebron Heart Center¡± in Cambodia and has continued to provide heart surgery and scholarships for children with heart disease.
Launch of Monimo KB Daily Interest Bankbook
KB Kookmin Bank announced that it has collaborated with Samsung Financial Network¡¯s integrated financial platform ¡°Monimo¡± to officially launch the ¡°Monimo KB Daily Interest Bankbook¡± and begin its sales to general customers in the financial market.
Prior to the launch of the bankbook, KB Kookmin Bank and Samsung Financial Networks provided priority enrollment opportunities to 200,000 customers, who won a ¡°pre-registration promotion¡± held from May 16 to 20.
Starting from May 21, general customers who did not participate in the event can also sign up for the bankbook. Monimo money (3,000 won) will be given to those who participate in the ¡°Monimo KB Daily Interest Account¡± promotion and open the account by May 11.
Monimo KB Daily Interest Bankbook is a checking account that can only be opened through Monimo App. It was designated as an innovative financial service by the Financial Services Commission of the Korean government in September 2024.
It offers an annual interest rate of up to 4 percent on daily balances of up to 2 million won (a base rate of 0.1 percent per year and a preferential rate of up to 3.9 percent per year before tax deductions as of April 21, 2025).
Graveyard Cleaning Work at National Seoul Cemetery
KB Kookmin Bank announced on June 5 that it conducted graveyard cleaning volunteer work at the National Seoul Cemetery in honor of Patriots and Veterans Month in June and the 70th Memorial Day, held on June 6.
This volunteer activity is part of the KB Hope Sharing Project, which runs throughout the year, with KB Kookmin Bank employees and their families participating.
Since 2012, KB Kookmin Bank has been partnering with the National Seoul Cemetery, conducting regular grave site cleaning activities twice a year by taking care of 1,587 graves in Section 21.
About 80 KB Kookmin Bank employees and their families participated in the volunteer activity on that day.
They carried out various activities such as laying flowers, replacing dirty national flags with new ones and cleaning up the environment.
They visited the Memorial Tower and the Memorial Hall to pay their respects and expressed their gratitude for the noble spirit of the patriots who sacrificed their lives for the country.
¡°We hope that the children who have overcome difficult heart surgeries will grow up healthy, fulfill their dreams and move on to a wider world,¡± a KB Kookmin Bank official said.
¡°We will steadily carry out our global social contribution activities so that children in countries with insufficient medical infrastructure can have dreams and hopes.¡±
