The Jeollanam-do provincial government has selected tourist spots recommended for the month of July that have a beautiful landscape but remain relatively unknown, areas where people can spend cool and secluded summer days.
The areas are: Ungcheon Chinsu Park Beach in Yeosu, Topmeori Beach in Muan, Gamami Beach in Yeonggwang and Gagae Beach in Jindo.
Ungcheon Chinsu Park Beach in Yeosu is a beach in which tourists can enjoy ¡°the sea in an urban city.¡± It boasts of a beautiful sandy beach and well-furnished amenities, such as shower rooms.
Visitors may enjoy a variety of marine leisure sports, such as paddleboarding, kayaking, windsurfing and snorkeling.
You may also promenade along the trail that stretches across the Jinseon Bridge to Jangdo, ¡°the Islet of Art.¡±
During the walk, visitors can appreciate artwork at a favorite summertime tourist spot where people can enjoy the beauty of nature and art. The beach remains open until Aug. 17.
Visitors can also regain the appetite they lost from the summer heat by having foods made with leaf mustard kimchi and ¡°daggertooth pike conger," which was introduced in the ¡°Book of Fish,¡± authored by Jeong Yak-jeon.
Topmeori Beach in Muan boasts of a spacious, beautiful sandy beach and mud flat sprawling along the Southwest Coast. It is favored by children due to its shallow and gentle depth.
Tourists can enjoy camping and beach swimming using decks in which tents are pitched among sea pine trees.
It evokes a romantic ambience highlighted by a lighthouse shaped after an airplane, a symbol of the beach, a sunset landscape and night view lighting. The beach remains open from July 18 until Aug. 17.
At an octopus restaurant alley in Muan, enjoy a variety of octopus foods cooked with three-legged octopuses at the Ramsar-listed pristine mudflat, such as Nakji Yeonpotang, Nakji Tangtangi and Galnaktang to replenish your energy from the heat.
Gamami Beach in Yeonggwang boasts of a sprawling sandy beach, shaped after a half moon and about 2,000 black pine trees along the Gomsoli Ocast behind it.
Enjoy a sand bath thanks to the clean seawater and fine-grained sand. It is outfitted with a campground, an aquaworld and a photo zone.
Don¡¯t miss a romantic sight of the West Sea ¡°The small, scattered islands¡± serve as a backdrop for the Chilsan sea, which is dyed the Chilsan Bay crimson by the setting sun against the backdrop of small, scattered islands.
The beach remains open from July 18 until Aug. 24.
Renowned restaurants line the Beopseongpo Gulbi (dried yellow corvina) alley in Yeonggwang.
Visitors can enjoy the chewy and spicy Deokja Jjim, and the Bori Gulbi set, which features rice soaked in chilled green tea topped with dried corvina, conducive to beat the summer heat.
Gagae Beach in Jindo is famous for Hoedong Village, known as the ¡°modern version of the Miracle of Moses.¡± Visitors can enjoy the thrilling landscape of the South Sea of the Korean Peninsula.
It boasts a spacious, sandy beach stretching for about 3 km.
You can enjoy swimming in the sea and take rests under black pine trees and lawn grounds.
The beach is frequented by lots of tourists, as it is outfitted with amenities such as a spacious parking, shower rooms and toilets. Visitors can experience a variety of marine leisure sports, such as yachting and kayaking.
The beach remains open from July 18 until Aug. 18.
Jindo has an abundance of fresh seafood, including abalone, mussels, and clams. A refreshing and spicy seafood stew and nutrient-rich abalone porridge help you recover your energy in the summer.
Oh Mi-kyung, director in charge of tourism at the Jeollanam-do provincial government, said, ¡°Jeollanam-do is an area boasting of specialized maritime landscapes, created by a sprawling coastline surrounded by the sea on three sides and a myriad of islets, and I hope you can have a genuine vacation by enjoying a sea bath on the beach and experience summer delicacies.¡±
