Sets in motion action regime to swiftly cope with major tasks in the energy sector

Korea Midland Power Co. (KOMIPO) launched the KOMIPO National Task Promotion Committee on Aug. 13 in keeping with 123 policy tasks, announced by the Presidential Committee on Policy Planning (PCPP), and set in motion an action regime to swiftly cope with major tasks in the energy sector. 

Earlier, KOMIPO launched the New Government Policy Response Strategy Taskforce Team in anticipation of the direction of policies in June, shortly after the inauguration of the new government. 

As PCPP released national policy tasks, the power company inaugurated the National Task Promotion Committee by expanding and reorganizing the New Government Policy Response Strategy Taskforce Team. 

The committee, headed by KOMIPO President Lee Young-jo, is manned by major department chiefs and working-level officials. 

The companywide body have three subcommittees on energy transition, future industry development and sustainable management. 

The first subcommittee is responsible for the renewal energy-oriented energy transition, the second one charged with preparation for the future, like AD and other advanced industries, and the third is tasked with labor, safety and ESG management. 

Each subcommittee plans to explore response strategies according to each national policy task, develop related projects and establish systems. 

The subcommittees plan to swiftly take measures with a focus on tasks directly related to the power company, such as management innovation of public entities. AI, carbon neutrality, safety, labor and regional shared growth among the 123 national policy tasks of the new government. 

KOMIPO will continue to manage the execution of tasks through the committee¡¯s quarterly follow-up meetings and management strategy meeting, presided over by the KOMIPO president, and will reflect them into management strategies in consideration of organization, budget and manpower. 

The power company plans to raise the execution of national policy tasks in the energy sector by ramping up cooperation with related ministries and local governments. 

President Lee said, ¡°We will continue to implement and explore tasks that can bring about changes in people¡¯s lives in accordance with national policy principles of the new government, such as fairness, trust and performance to achieve national visions. KOMIPO will fully fulfill the public entity¡¯s intrinsic roles to lead Korea¡¯s real growth by focusing on the energy transition and the development of future strategy industries.¡±


KOMIPO Helps Korean SMEs Explore Export Markets in Vietnam

Korea Midland Power Co. dispatched ¡°2025 Vietnam Market Exploration Delegation¡± to Hoh Chi Minh City and its neighboring districts from July 13 and July 19 to help SMEs expand exports. 

The delegation¡¯s activities led to 167 negotiation sessions worth $31.53 million and deals worth $15.07 million. 

The market exploration delegation was joined by 27 officials from 15 KOMIPO¡¯s cooperative SMEs. 

They had technology exchange meetings with Vietnamese power companies, participating in the fair ELECS Vietnam 2025, and a technology meeting with EVN and B2B export negotiation sessions. 

Delegates struck MOUs worth some 1.73 million, including smart monitoring systems of GaonPlatform, a turbine valve actuator tester of Mirae Automation, and electricity facility valves of BTX. 

Some participating delegation companies held a verification session to prove the safety and application of their products at the Van Phong Power Plant, being operated by KOMIPO.

KOMIPO President Lee said, ¡°The market exploration delegation is a good example in which it not only produced export performances but also built a technology cooperation model based on verification, and KOMIPO will continue to provide on-the-site export support for the purpose of the energy industry¡¯s global entry and shared growth with SMEs.¡± 


KOMIPO Strikes MOU on Development of Intelligent Robot Technology with Sungkyunkwan University

Korea Midland Power Co. signed an MOU on the development of intelligent robot technology and manpower with Sungkyunkwan University. 

The signing ceremony was held at the university¡¯s Suwon campus in Gyeonggi-do on Aug. 13. 

It was attended by Kim Jong-suh, head of the Power Environment Division at KOMIPO and Kim Tae-sung, dean of Sungkyunkwan University Engineering College, Koo Ja-choon, chief of the Industry-Campus Cooperation Group and other faculty members.

During the event, both sides discussed detailed ways of promoting cooperation, such as joint research on robot technology, seminar and technology exchange, and joint use of education and other facilities.
