Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority (YGPA) has begun to work out future port strategies by inaugurating an arctic route response strategy working group and a working group on policy tasks for the development and introduction of port drones. 

YGPA launched the Working Group for Artic Route New Strategies on July 12 and the Working Group for the Integrated Control of K-Smart AI Port Drones on July 14. 

The working groups are part of the five working groups YGPA has launched or will launch on five policy tasks designed to accelerate the implementation of 123 national tasks and raise the execution of the growth of Yeosu and Gwangyang ports.

The Working Group for the Integrated Control of K-Smart AI Port Drones plans to jointly develop AI-based mid- and long-distance flight drones and explore the use of drones in all port operation process by making the most of YGPA¡¯s strength with the largest number of drones among ports. 

The steps are designed to pursue efficient port operation and improve customer services. 

YGPA plans to launch working groups on AI smart port operation, eco-friendly port and AI digital management. 

YGPA Acting President Hwang Hak-beom said, ¡°Realistic and practical tasks will be explored through working groups in which a variety of entities participate in keeping with national policy agenda of the new government, such as AI, Arctic route and energy expressways and we will make achievements to people¡¯s expectation levels.¡±


YGPA Holds Briefing Session on Connectivity of National Tasks 

Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority said on July 28 YGPA held a briefing session on connectivity of national tasks to take prior steps related to national tasks of the new government and ramp their execution. 

During the meeting, YGPA announced 25 new strategy projects, such as the building of the Yeosu-Gwangyang AI smart port ecosystem, an Artic route eco-friendly fuel center, and an LNG bunkering hub port, in conjunction with the growth strategies of the new government. 

YGPA plans to raise the execution of Yeosu and Gwangyang ports¡¯ core projects and secure sustainable future growth engines by analyzing public pledges and policies of the new government in advance and exploring project connected with national tasks. 

Earlier, YGPA inaugurated a policy task taskforce team assuming the role of a control tower designed to raise the execution of projects connected with national policy agenda. 

With the exploration of projects connected with national policy agendas and the operation of the taskforce team, YGPA plans to finalize its management strategies and connected strategy projects in time for the government¡¯s upcoming announcement of national task agenda and accelerate the implementation of the projects, a YGPA official said.

YGPA Acting President Hwang Hak-beom said, ¡°These prior steps related to national policy agendas will help YGPA lead AI technology growth, growth for all in the Gwangyang Bay area and a fair growth, and we will devote ourself to pursing Yeosu and Gwangyang ports¡¯ growth to people¡¯s expectation levels.¡±


YGPA Management and Labor Reach Agreement 

Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority and its trade union struck a deal to take prior steps in keeping with the implementation of government policy agenda on July 31. 

The deal calls for upgrading YGPA¡¯s personnel and compensation systems in accordance with the guidelines suggested by the Presidential Committee of Policy and Planning and the Ministry of Economy and Finance. 

Both sides agreed to fully cooperate in the introduction of birth and child care systems and boosting them in order to cope with low-birth and spread work-life balance culture.
