Chairman Kim Nam-jung of Dongwon Group met with General Secretary To Lam of the Communist Party of Vietnam, who toured Dongwon Global Terminal (DGT) in Busan New Port on Aug. 13. 

In August 2024, Lam was elected as the secretary general at the 13th Central Committee of the Communist Party of Viet Nam.

Dongwon Group said on Aug. 14 General Secretary Lam and delegates visited DGT to help Vietnam take a cue from Korea¡¯s first smart port automation technology and operational expertise. 

Dongwon Chmn. At that time, Kim and General Secretary To Lam shared topics such as how to build and operate the smart port.

Chmn. Kim introduced Vietnamese subsidiaries of Dongwon group, which serve as a bridge to promote the development of industries in both countries. 

Dongwon Group has been operating two subsidiaries in Vietnam since 2015. They are Tan Tien Packaging and Minh Viet Packaging. 

They supply flexible packaging materials and PET to Masan Group, Vietnam¡¯s largest integrated food maker.
 
Dongwon¡¯s subsidiaries, located in Ho Chi Minh and Hanoi, strive to boost exports to the North American market. 

Currently, the Vietnamese government, seizing the container port industry as an economic growth force, is aggressively making investments to develop Vietnamese ports as logistics hubs of the Northeast Asia. 

A Dongwon Group official said, ¡°Dongwon will boost exports and spur businesses in Vietnam by ramping up cooperation with Vietnam, a global ocean and fisheries power and promoting cooperation.¡± 


Dongwon Group Posts 258.5BWon in 2025 H1 Operating Proft 

Dongwon Industries, the holding company of Dongwon Group, chalked up 258.5 billion won in operating profit in the first half of 2025, a 32.7 percent surge over the same period of last year on a consolidated basis. 

The company saw sales increase 6.7 percent during the same period to 4,677.9 billion won. 

Dongwon Industries logged 2,358.6 billion won in Q2 consolidated sales, a 10.1 percent year-on-year surge, and Q2 operating profit jumped 57.7 percent to 133.6 billion won. 

Dongwon Group saw its mainstay businesses, such as fisheries and food segments, show even growth . In particular, the food and material businesses saw exports expand to lead the improvement of the performance. 

The fisheries business saw profitability improve dramatically on the back of a rise in fish prices. 

Dongwon Industries saw H1 stand-alone sales and operating profit of 579.3 billion won and 119.3 billion won, respectively, representing a 0.9 percent increase and a 49.7 percent jump over the same period last year.

Dongwon Group Publishes English Version of Honorary Chmn. Kim¡¯s Biography 

Dongwon Group said on Aug. 21 the group published the English version of Dongwon Group Honorary Chmn. Kim Jae-chul¡¯s biography ¡°Sailing Through Life¡¯s Storms.¡± 

The biography, released in April, was an essay carrying Dongwon Group Honorary Chmn. Kim¡¯s childhood stories and corporate management experiences, such as success stories, failures and the overcoming of crises. 

It also contained Honorary Chmn.¡¯s challenging toward the seas as a youth, life-threatening voyage, management tenets and principles, and entrepreneurship.
