The Bitgaram International Exposition of Electric Power Technology 2025 (BIXPO 2025) opened for a three-day run at the Kimdaejung Convention Center on Nov. 5.

BIXPO 2025, the 10th rendition of exhibition, took place as a global convergence energy expo connecting technology and industry, as well as district and the world into one under the theme ¡°Connect Everything with Energy.¡±

Jim Yong Kim, former president of the World Bank, delivered a keynote speech at an opening ceremony in which he proposed the necessity for energy transitioning and new approach methods based on global policy experiences.

Approximately 700 people, including political and government notables, Korean and international power company CEOs, and foreign ambassadors in Korea participated in the fair.

New technologies in the energy convergence sector were unveiled for the first time at ¡®BIXPO UNPACKED¡¯, a highlight event of BIXPO 2025, which took place following an opening ceremony.

BIXPO UNPACKED showcased the moments in which energy, AI, hydrogen and XR technologies are applied in reality, not an exhibition of simply displaying new technologies, drawing a huge attention from spectators.

The AI semiconductor company Rebellions introduced ¡°RebelQuad,¡± an AI semiconductor that can spot and adjust power and voltage abnormalities on its own by analyzing power grid data in real time.

Vinssen has developed a ship based on hydrogen fuel cell that produces electricity on its own. A spectator said, ¡°Days are to come when ships can carry hydrogen, not carbon at sea and move.¡±

GS E&C and HD Hyundai Infracore reenacted an excavator¡¯s movements at a construction site with digital twin on a large screen. AI sensed vibrations, caused by the boom of the excavator, displayed a warning message on the screen.

Virnect unveiled an XR power maintenance system. As a staff member with the XR technology company wore a helmet, a blueprint on power equipment and work procedure appeared.

BIXPO 2025 attracted 166 Korean and international companies as well as Korean institutions, local governments and universities, which displayed new technologies.

The fair had booths, such as KEPCO Pavilion, Regional Specialty Industry Pavilion, Global Union Pavilion for unicorn companies and CES innovation award winners, and Deep Tech Startup Specialized Pavilion.

LS Group, POSCO, HD Hyundai Electric and Hyosung Heavy Industries displayed all value chains of the energy industry, AI, robot and energy convergence technologies at a pavilion of large-sized companies along with smaller companies at an SMEs pavilion.

KEPCO President Kim Hints at Expanding Renewal Energies despite Short-Term Electricity Charge Raise Factor

President Kim Dong-cheol of Korea Electric Power said even though expanding renewable energies is inevitable, pushing up electricity charges in the short term, KEPCO would aggressively participate in new projects, such as wind power, citing an irreversible trend of greater renewable energy use.
