Samsung C&T Engineering & Construction (E&C) Group has secured a 470 billion won share in Australia¡¯s Marinus Link HVDC project, a 750 MW high-voltage direct current transmission system connecting Victoria and Tasmania through underground and subsea infrastructure.
The project award reflects strong technical evaluation during the Early Contractor Involvement phase, supported by Samsung C&T¡¯s HVDC execution experience, and contributes to the company¡¯s achievement of 1 trillion won in renewable energy orders in Australia this year.
Samsung C&T E&C Group is accelerating its expansion in Australia¡¯s energy infrastructure market after securing the major high-voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission project.
On Dec. 10, Samsung C&T announced that it has signed a contract for the Marinus Link HVDC project, commissioned by Marinus Link Pty Ltd, a project company established by the Australian federal government and the state governments of Victoria and Tasmania.
The Marinus Link HVDC project is a large-scale engineering, procurement, and construction undertaking to design, procure, and construct a 750 MW ultra-high-voltage direct current transmission system linking the Hazelwood area in Victoria with the Heybridge area in Tasmania.

The project includes approximately 90 kilometers of underground transmission and 255 kilometers of subsea cable, forming a critical interconnector between Tasmania and mainland Australia.
Once completed, it will enable stable, bidirectional power transmission while minimizing energy losses between Tasmania, which has abundant renewable energy resources, and Victoria and other mainland regions.
Samsung C&T is participating in the project through a joint venture with Australian infrastructure construction company DT Infrastructure (DTI).
The joint venture has secured the civil works package covering underground cable installation and converter station construction.
Of the total project value of approximately 940 billion won, Samsung C&T¡¯s 50 percent share amounts to roughly 470 billion won.
Samsung C&T E&C received high evaluation scores during the Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) phase, in which contractors participate in design optimization from the early stages of project development.
The Group presented optimized design solutions and demonstrated execution capabilities built through prior HVDC projects, including its experience in the UAE.
These strengths played a key role in securing the contract.
¡°The Marinus Link HVDC project represents a meaningful recognition of Samsung C&T¡¯s technical capabilities and project execution expertise in the Australian market,¡± said Kim Sung-jun, Executive Vice President and Head of ES Sales at Samsung C&T.
¡°We will continue to expand our business footprint across Australia and other global energy markets by building on our experience in large-scale energy infrastructure projects.¡±
Samsung C&T has steadily strengthened its presence in Australia¡¯s renewable energy sector. In July, the company secured a 200 billion won battery energy storage system project in Gnarwarre, Victoria.
With this latest HVDC contract, Samsung C&T has achieved 1 trillion won in renewable energy orders in Australia this year alone.
Samsung C&T Expands Food Delivery Robt Service at Apartment Unit Doorstep
Samsung C&T Construction Group is expanding a self-driving food delivery robot service to the doorsteps of apartment units in cooperation with Yogiyo, an online delivery platform.
Samsung C&T wrapped up a project to verify a food delivery robot service in cooperation with Neubility, a self-driving robot company, at Raemian LeadersOne Complex in Seocho-gu, Seoul, last year.
The project involved the solving of technical issues, such as opening and closing of common entrance automation doors and connectivity of elevator calls, prerequisites of food delivery robot services in apartment complexes and the building of door-to-door services available at the doorsteps of each unit through consultation with occupant representatives and the apartment management office.
The satisfaction degree of occupants using the food delivery robot service during the verification period stood at 95 percent.
Starting this year, the food delivery robot service near the Raemian Leaders One Complex will be expanded to some 130 food and beverage stores within a radius of 1.2 km through connectivity of Yogiyo to raise occupants¡¯ scope of choice and their satisfaction.
