The New Year, called ¡°Byeongonyeon,¡± meaning the Year of the Red Horse, has dawned. There is a saying ¡°even though a horse run fast, it doesn¡¯t mean you go your way far away.¡±
In order to go far away, the right direction is important than the speed, and it means it leads to a place we want to go.
This year, our industries and organizations are putting themselves in front of the question. AI brings about a tremendous speed, but if the quality of data, the safety of processes and organizational capabilities are not combined precisely, it causes confusion, not innovation.
A report on the Korean labor market and AI, released by the OECD, showed that 56.5 percent of Korean companies which introduced AI said reallocating existing tasks and redrawing processes are inevitable.
The imaginable speed of AI changes boundaries of industries, but it doesn¡¯t mean sustainable competitiveness. It depends on how a strong a foundation can be built so that new technologies can fulfill their roles.
A survey of 915 employees on the current status on the use of generative AI and support, conducted by Korean Standards Association last September, showed that 87.4 percent of the respondents replied that AI was used in their tasks.
Lee Dong-seok, executive vice president of industry standards at Korea Standards Association, poses with President Lee Young-suk of WISESTONE, after the institutions inaugurated the ¡°AI+ Trust Certification¡± last Dec. 16.
Asked about core roles of human resources in an AI era, 78.8 percent educating and training of staff as one of major tasks.
It means that regardless of the size and business specification of companies, a core reason for spreading the use of AI is related to systematic learning.
What is needed are not only individuals utilizing AI with ease, but also organizations which learn AI so that its capabilities can be spread.
KSA has joined forces to make a constant shift so such a corporate culture can be established.
