Incheon International Airport Corp. (IIAC) announced a plan on Feb. 6 to accelerate eco-friendly hydrogen mobility transformation, based on the largest hydrogen charging infrastructure among airports around the world, and make it the center of Korea¡¯s hydrogen economy.
IIAC has three hydrogen charging stations in operation. In particular, the corporation inaugurated ¡°Incheon Airport Hydrogen Transportation Multi-purpose Center,¡± capable of charging 320 kg per hour and a maximum of 240 hydrogen buses daily on Jan. 6.
Incheon International Airport is now outfitted with the largest hydrogen charging infrastructure among airports around the world, capable of charging 420 kg per hour.
The new center was dedicated at a cost of 14.3 billion won under a public–private partnership project.
It is outfitted with liquefied hydrogen charging stations boasting of charging speed two times faster than the conventional gas charging method.
The center handles a daily average of 40 hydrogen buses and about 800 kg in charging volumes, easing waiting time for.
Each of the two charging stations, introduced in 2021, is capable of charging 50 kg per hour.
They saw charging volumes surging to 652 kg on a daily average in 2025, 2.6-fold jump from a daily average of 266 kg in the first year of operation.
Based on the world-class hydrogen charging infrastructure, IIAC has introduced a combined 115 hydrogen vehicles to comply with the government¡¯s policies of invigorating the hydrogen economy.
The corporation has converted 36 units out of a combined 68 airport shuttle business into hydrogen buses, resulting of reducing 2.016 tons of greenhouse gas emissions, the equivalent of planning 288,000 pine trees.
Based on these outcomes, IIAC plans to accelerate eco-friendly hydrogen mobility transition.
The corporation plans to introduce an additional seven hydrogen buses this year and add hydrogen charging stations in 2028 to meet hydrogen charging demand, which is predicted to soar to 3,700 kg annually.

Incheon Airport Sees Airliners Commencing Flights Top 100
Incheon International Airport Corp. said the number of airliners commencing flights at the airport totaled 101 as of the end of last year.
It is the first time that airliners which had inaugurated flights since the opening of Incheon International Airport in 2001 surpassed 100.
The figure represents an about 115 percent jump over 47 airliners commencing flights at the opening of the airport.
The achievement is owed to IIAC¡¯s aggressive marketing activities to attract new airliners.
Last year alone, seven new airliners inaugurated flights, achieving a big record of raising the number of airliners in operation to 101.
Besides, the number of Incheon Airport¡¯s passenger and cargo destinations stood at 183 cities in 53 countries, so the airport has the highest airport network competitiveness since the opening of the airport.
Incheon International Airport Handles Record Number 74.07 Million Passengers in 2025
Incheon International Airport handled the largest-ever number of passengers and flights since the opening of the airport.
It is attributable to the Lunar New Year and Chuseok holidays and Korea and China¡¯s policies of temporarily exempting visas.
IIAC handled 74,071,475 passengers and 425,760 flights, the most-ever since the opening of the airport on the back of rising demand on flight routes to China and Japan.
The passengers handled in 2025 represent a 4.1 percent rise or an increase of 2,901,753 passengers over the previous record of 71,169,722 passengers in 2019.
The flights on the same year represent a 3 percent rise over the previous record of 413.200 flights in 2024.
