Chairman Cho Won-tae of Hanjin Business Group delivers his commemorative speech at a ceremony to celebrate the 57th anniversary of Korean Air¡¯s founding on March 3.

Chairman Cho Won-tae of Hanjin Business Group delivered his commemorative speech at a ceremony to celebrate the 57th anniversary of Korean Air¡¯s founding on March 3, in which he emphasized the need to form one team between Korean Air and Asiana Airlines to ensure safety, service and costing savings.

In the speech, Chmn. Cho said, ¡°This year marks a very important milestone of the history of Korean Air, since this year celebrates a year of start of the history of an integrated Korean Air.¡±

¡°The two airlines which have been responsible for the history of the Korean aviation industry will carry out the tasks of the times by building an industry ecosystem through merger, as Korean Air had declared when it announced its acquisition of Asiana Airlines,¡± Chmn. Cho said.

As for integration, Chmn. Cho presented the goal of ¡°becoming one¡± based on respect and trust on the part of all executives and staff members.

¡°The rivals of the-soon-to-be-merged Korean Air are not domestic airlines but global airliners, and if we form one team with a unified heart, we can demonstrate our capabilities as a national representative airliner on the global stage,¡± he said.

Chmn. Cho said, ¡°Executives have to take the lead more than any other to communicate with staff members with a humble attitude, and they should put their heart and mind to support staff members and they should be sure that these are the principles of leadership.¡±

Chmn. Cho urged his executives and staff members to make all-out efforts to ensure safety and service.

¡°Customers could have feelings of misgivings as much as expectations over the merger, and even at this juncture, we have to build up trust by establishing reinforced safety standards and offering top services,¡± he said.

Chmn. Cho proposed that all executives and staff members should make joint efforts to make a happy worksite.

¡°The ultimate goal of going to work is to realize happiness each of us pursues, and if you who work at Korean Air are happy, we can convey happy traveling experiences to customers,¡± he said.

Chmn. Cho shared the new tagline ¡°Anywhere is Possible,¡± instead of the conventional ¡°Excellence in Flight.¡±

¡°It is our determination and an expression of confidence that we will not set limitations for ourselves on top of the meaning of Korean Air¡¯s being with customers any place they want to go. The future of a merged Korean Air is an unprecedented path in the history of the aviation history, but we are going to fly along the flight path following the shining hope,¡± he said.

Chmn. Cho said, ¡°Customers, executives and staffers¡¯ information security has emerged as a significant task that determines the survival of companies, and the most important thing is to ensure safety is for our executives and staff to establish a companywide safety culture.¡±

Chmn. Cho said that the competitiveness of the merged Korean Air can be completed only if it is propped up on top of safety and service.

He urged his executives and staffers to change a crisis into an opportunity amid a myriad of uncertainties, saying they should join forces to remove inefficiency in the course of work and maximize productivity.
