Agency for Korea National Food Cluster pledges to make a leap forward on the occasion of the 15th anniversary.
The Agency for Korea National Food Cluster celebrated its 15th anniversary with about 170 executives and officials in attendance on April 3.
For the past 15 years, the agency is evaluated to have devoted itself to raising the standing of the national food cluster, also known as Foodpolis, and strengthening the competitiveness of the Korean food industry.
Of late, the agency has made achievements, such as designating food industry professional manpower development institutions and agro-food venture and startup support institutions, and attracting an ¡°Overseas Export Support Center.¡±
The agency has been credited for expanding a foothold to ramp up the competitiveness of the national food cluster through the regulatory reform of industrial complexes, such as vertical farms, allowing pet food maker tenants and food makers to repackage for retail, and the designation of the special zones.
President Kim Deok-ho of the Agency for the Korea National Food Cluster said, ¡°The past 15 years are a period for building our foothold, and the next 15 years will be for our future, and we will redouble efforts to building the innovative ecosystem for the whole cycle of the food industry with a focus on food tech, ¡®K-food¡¯ and food valleys.¡±
MAFRA Expands 1,000 Won Breakfast Project to Industrial Complex Workers
The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (MAFRA) said on April 2 the ministry has expanded a project in which industrial complex workers are served with a breakfast for 1,000 won to promote their healthy dietary habits and consumption of rice.
The ministry said 5,4000 breakfast meals had been served under the pilot project, which made its debut last October, and the pilot project has been expanded to cover 19 industrial complexes across the nation with the goal of serving a combined 900,000 meals this year.
If each worker pays 1,000 won, his or her company or a consultative committee would provide breakfast by using homegrown rice, wheat and soybean via cafeteria, delivery order and catering.
The government shoulders 2,000 won per person and the remaining 2,000 won is contributed by a local government and participating company.
Out of the 29 project participants, 23 companies are located in the non-Seoul metropolitan area, contributing to improving local workers¡¯ dietary life.
Twenty-eight companies, a majority of the project participants, are SMEs. They include nine group business.

The Agency for the Korea National Food Cluster said on March 26 that it participated in ¡°2026 Food-tech Vegan Festa & Green Festa¡± that took place at Seoul SETEC from March 27 to March 29.
The agency presented the future vision of the K-food tech industry and offered customized corporate support.
On Day 1, the agency struck an MOU with KFHTA to ramp up a foothold of the K-food tech industry.
In the deal, both sides agreed to solidify mutual cooperative relations in the food tech sector, a core part of the future food industry.
President Kim Deok-ho of the Agency for the Korea National Food delivered a keynote speech under the theme ¡°Ways of Reinventing the Future Food Industry.¡±
He called for nurturing K-food civilian planning companies, introducing food copyrights and reinvigorating local clusters.
