The Industrial Bank of Korea (IBK) announced on April 1 that it will begin full-scale education and training on ¡°vibe coding¡± and the utilization of its in-house generative AI model, ¡°IBK GenAI,¡± for IBK headquarters employees starting in April.
This training initiative was launched in accordance with a direction stated by CEO Jang Min-young in his inaugural address to completely redesign IBK¡¯s organizational DNA to be AI-friendly.
Starting with approximately 1,000 headquarters employees in the first half of the year, the program is scheduled to expand to branches across the nation in the second half of 2026.
Vibe Coding is a method that generates code based on natural language and automates tasks, characterized by its ease of use even for non-majors.
This training focuses on practical application skills, such as automatic document generation, data analysis, and report writing.
IBK GenAI is an in-house generative AI model built by IBK to support IBK employees in directly developing customized agents for specific tasks.
Its main training content includes business efficiency, the development of customized services for each department, API-based system integration, and the development of in-house AI agents.
IBK also operates the AI Challenge Program for those who complete the training program.
Through this, the bank plans to discover cases of business innovation and spread a culture of AI utilization.
In addition, IBK plans to continuously enhance the functions of IBK GenAI to expand its application areas to include credit evaluations for small and medium-sized enterprises or SMEs, the automation of loan screening and customized financial product recommendations.
¡°This training is the starting point for transforming IBK¡¯s organizational culture to be AI-centric,¡± an IBK official said. ¡°We will make this year the first year of IBK¡¯s AX to further sharpen its competitiveness as a bank specializing in SMEs.¡±
