Shinhan Bank announced on March 27 that it has introduced the Loan Review Support Agent, which applies generative AI technology to corporate lending operations.

¡°The Loan Review Support Agent is a system that systematically and consistently analyzes corporate information based on know-how and data accumulated by Shinhan Bank in the field of corporate lending,¡± a Shinhan Bank representative said.

¡°The agent provides integrated information necessary for writing loan opinion documents.¡±

Shinhan Bank employees¡¯ empower the system to provide corporate analysis results by comprehensively reflecting various factors including basic information such as company status, financial data, industry trends, loan application details, recent purchase and sales trends, collateral recovery value, financial transaction status, and technological competitiveness.

Through this, branch employees are able to quickly grasp corporate information and perform the task of writing loan opinion documents more efficiently.

In addition, Shinhan Bank developed its own specialized analysis engine capable of customized analysis by industry, based on the observation that even identical financial indicators can be interpreted differently depending on industry characteristics.

By applying financial analysis logic that reflects industry characteristics to 12 major industries, including manufacturing and software development and supply, the bank enhanced the accuracy of corporate analysis.

In particular, this system is characterized by its ability to improve practical applicability and the reliability of analyses by incorporating Shinhan Bank¡¯s accumulated corporate analysis experience and data, rather than relying solely on Large-Scale Language Models (LLMs).

¡°We expect that this system will allow branch employees to reduce repetitive data organization tasks and focus more on proposing financial solutions tailored to the specific characteristics of each corporate customer,¡± the Shinhan Bank representative said.

Opening Financial Education Center

Shinhan Bank announced that it held an opening ceremony for Shinhan Hakijae Gwangju, a finance-specialized artificial intelligence and digital education center at the Shinhan Bank Gwangju Financial Center in Geumnam-ro, Buk-gu of Gwangju, on March 30.

Shinhan Hakijae is a space named after the phrase, ¡°Is it not a joy to learn and practice from time to time?¡± from Chapter 12 of ¡°the Analects of Confucius.¡±

It is the first mutually beneficial and inclusive educational space in the financial sector that converts idle space owned by the bank into an education center through public-private partnership to provide customized education to the marginalized in AI and digital finance.

In addition to basic digital device usage training for senior citizens, such as mobile banking and kiosk usage, Shinhan Bank operates financial education programs tailored to the needs of various groups, including people with developmental disabilities, children, and youth.

In cooperation with the Financial Supervisory Service, Shinhan Bank is strengthening education on preventing financial crimes damaging people¡¯s livelihoods such as voice phishing, and are working to eliminate blind spots in financial consumer protection.

The bank is also promoting real-life AI education in collaboration with the Ministry of Science and ICT and the National Information Society Agency (NIA)¡¯s AI Digital Learning Center Project.

On hand were Jin Ok-dong, chairman of Shinhan Financial Group; Jung Sang-hyeok, president of Shinhan Bank; Lee Chan-jin, governor of the Financial Supervisory Service; Ryu Je-myeong, second vice minister of science and ICT; Kim Young-moon, vice mayor of Culture and Economy of Gwangju Metropolitan City; and Jeong Gwang-young, President of the Gwangju Metropolitan City Federation of the Korea Senior Citizens Association.

In the first part of the opening ceremony, the unveiling of the signboard took place, and visions for the Shinhan Hakijae Project were shared. In the second part, a special lecture on voice phishing prevention was given to local senior citizens.

¡°The Loan Review Support Agent combines the rapid data analysis capabilities of AI with the professional judgment capabilities of Shinhan Bank employees. We will steadily provide faster and more differentiated financial services to corporate customers through continuous advancements.¡±
