Shinhan Card has launched the Kakao Bank Chakbut Shinhan Card, a private label credit card (PLCC) featuring trendy, lifestyle-oriented benefits, in collaboration with Kakao Bank, Korea’s No. 1 internet bank.
This card is the second PLCC introduced by the two companies, following last year’s Kakao Bank Jupjup Shinhan Card.
It features improved convenience by enabling all card-related services to be accessed through Kakao Bank Smartphone App while strengthening lifestyle-oriented discount benefits that span both online and offline transactions.
First of all, the Kakao Bank Chakbut Shinhan Card offers a 10% discount on online simple payments.
This applies to payments made via Kakao Pay, Naver Pay and Shinhan SOL Pay with a maximum discount of 5,000 won per transaction.
Additionally, discount benefits are provided when subscribing to various online memberships using this card.
When using ChatGPT and Claude, this plastic money offers a 10% discount. Users of this credit card can enjoy a discount of up to 50% for Naver Plus and Coupang Wow service fees.
This applies to recurring payments made through the official website, excluding simple payment methods and in-app purchases made via app stores.
Benefits for offline customers have also been prepared. A 10% discount is offered in the categories of supermarkets (E-Mart, Traders Wholesale Club), coffee shops, and household goods (Olive Young and Daiso).

The discount benefits are applied separately for online and offline purchases within the monthly discount limit.
Discounts of up to 10,000 won are applied for the previous month’s spending between 500,000 won and 1 million won, and up to 25,000 won for the previous month’s spending of 1 million won or more.
In other words, if the previous month’s spending exceeds 1 million won, a total discount of up to 50,000 won can be received across both online and offline purchases.
Meanwhile, the Kakao Bank Chakbut Shinhan Card features Chunsik, a popular Kakao Friends character, on the card plate.
The design is composed of three types, including Warp Chunsik, Miyao Chunsik and Steel Chunsik, adding fun to choosing card designs.
In particular, the metal plate material which was very popular in previous PLCCs is available in the Steel Chunsik model.
Winning Picking Up Bronze Award at IDEA 2026
Shinhan Card announced on Aug. 21 that its Shinhan Nara Sarang Card won the Bronze Award and its Shinhan Card Simple Plan Card won the Main Award in the Branding category at the IDEA 2026 organized by the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA).
Bronze-winning Shinhan Nara Sarang Card drew a connection between the customer and the nation through the credit card as its core value, and strived to develop this into the design.
Furthermore, to ensure that actual users — military personnel — are satisfied and want to continue using the card even after their discharge, the company conducted various research targeting men in their 20s to apply a minimalist design and neutral color palette.
Shinhan Card’s Simple Plan Card, which also won the Main Award, was recognized for its originality by novelly interpreting the concept of “simpleness” through the physical characteristics of its materials.
The Basic Type achieved intuitive simplicity by transparently exposing the card’s internal structure, while the Plus Type built a premium image using metallic materials, showcasing a differentiated appeal for each lineup.
Financial Support for Heavy Rain Victims
Shinhan Card announced on Aug. 18 that it will provide financial support to customers in the Gyeongnam region who have suffered damage from heavy rainfall and floods.
The credit card company will support bill deferral and installment repayment plans, allowing card payments to be delayed and repaid in installments.
Any affected customer can apply regardless of where they live.
For the affected customer and their immediate family, repayment of bills such as credit card bills will be deferred for one to six months, followed by an installment repayment plan for up to 6 months.
This applies even to customers who are in arrears, and if the limit for customers who are in debt deferment is insufficient, a temporary limit is being provided.
