KB Kookmin Bank Holds Graduation Ceremony for Youth IT Talent Development Program

KB Kookmin Bank held a graduation ceremony for the 7th class of its youth IT talent development program, “KB IT’s Your Life” on Aug. 28.

KB IT’s Your Life is KB Kookmin Bank’s flagship talent development program to strengthen young people’s software and AI capabilities and sharpen their competitiveness in the IT sector.

To date, over 1,000 young people have participated in the training program, and graduates are active in various fields, including securing employment at leading companies in Korea.

Over the past six months, KB Kookmin Bank provided a variety of programs based on systematic professional IT education.

The program includes support for self-directed learning expenses, one-on-one employment consulting and special lectures, project and employment mentoring with current industry mentors, coding test preparation classes, on-the-job training and healing camps and job preparation packages.

The completion ceremony held at the KB Kookmin Bank New Building in Yeouido of Seoul included presentations and awards for outstanding projects.

The selected outstanding projects were a safe electronic wallet that links guardians with senior citizens vulnerable to financial fraud such as voice phishing and a safe downsizing assistant for senior citizens with insufficient cash flow.

Following this, KB Kookmin Bank employees met with the graduates to share their experiences and know-how gained during their job preparation process and provided practical advice to young people seeking employment through a Q&A session.

“This program helped young people develop practical skills in the AI and IT fields and assisted them in their job search, we think,” a KB Kookmin Bank official said.

“KB Kookmin Bank will continue to do its best to nurture young talents who will lead the future financial industry.”

Meanwhile, KB Financial Group is running “AI Connect 2026,” a flagship AI diffusion program, to strengthen the AI utilization capabilities of its employees.

In June, the financial group held its second event in collaboration with Microsoft, sharing the latest AI technology trends and AI application cases from various business departments.

Moreover, the bank is supporting employees in applying AI to their actual work through training and experience programs utilizing “M365 Copilot.”

Support for Surgery for Cambodian Children with Heart Diseases

KB Kookmin Bank invited six children with heart disease from Cambodia to Korea to provide them with free surgery and support for their recovery on Aug. 24.

The Support Project for Children with Heart Diseases in Cambodia is KB Kookmin Bank’s flagship global social contribution activity, providing surgical opportunities to children who struggle with treatment due to poor local medical environments.

KB Kookmin Bank has been carrying out this project since 2012 in partnership with the Financial Supervisory Service and the Salvation Army of Korea and has delivered healthy hearts and hope for a new life to a total of 113 children to date.

The event held at Sejong Hospital in Bucheon was attended by Financial Supervisory Service Governor Lee Chan-jin, Salvation Army Commander Kim Byung-yoon, KB Kookmin Bank President Lee Hwan-joo, and Shin Ji-ah, a national figure skater sponsored by KB Financial Group.

The attendees presented school supply sets, backpacks, and dolls to child patients recovering from surgery, wishing them a speedy recovery.

In particular, marking the 15th anniversary of the project this year, a video showed the growth of children who previously received surgical support from the bank.

“It is meaningful for KB Kookmin Bank to have been able to contribute to helping children regain their health and nurture new dreams over the past 15 years,” a KB Kookmin Bank official said.

“We will continue our sincere inclusive finance and social contribution activities to ensure that children in medical blind spots can grow up healthy.”
