On October 2, Hana Financial Group held an opening ceremony for its Cheongna Headquarters, officially announcing the completion of the Hana Financial Town Project — an initiative pursued over the past 15 years.
With this milestone, the Group establishes Cheongna as its new central hub, aiming to further strengthen its global financial competitiveness and accelerate its journey toward a new century of growth.
With the opening of the Cheongna Headquarters, Hana Financial Group has outlined a vision to advance beyond the Korean market and evolve into a financial group with strong competitiveness in the global financial arena.
Amid the rapid evolution of overseas financial markets, Hana Financial Group plans to deliver innovative financial experiences to global customers by converging finance with AI, data, and digital technologies, while simultaneously boosting the competitiveness of its global operations through enhanced collaboration between overseas networks and its headquarters in Korea.
Hana Financial Group has been developing “Hana Financial Town” in the Cheongna International City of Incheon since 2012.
Following the opening of the Integrated Data Center in 2017 and the Hana Global Campus in 2019, the inauguration of the Cheongna Headquarters this year has brought a grand blueprint for Hana Financial Town to fruition.
The Cheongna Headquarters spans seven underground and 15 above-ground floors, with a total floor area of approximately 128,000 square meters.
Since September, around 2,200 employees from Hana Financial Group and ten Hana affiliates have been relocating in phases; ultimately, a workforce of approximately 4,000 finance and IT professionals including those already stationed at the Integrated Data Center will be based in Cheongna.
From the design stage, the Cheongna Headquarters prioritizes “Connectivity” and “Collaboration” as core values.
The facility features open workspaces that eliminate physical boundaries between departments, divisions, and affiliates, and is designed to foster natural communication and collaboration among financial business units and IT, data, and digital teams.
Organizational barriers were lowered through horizontal layouts offering wide workspace per floor complemented by internal connecting staircases.
Additionally, the design incorporates open spaces such as Sky Park, Glass Deck, and a ramp-style staircase running through the entire building to facilitate interaction between employees and the local community.
Digital work environments have also been upgraded to a global standard at the Cheongna Heaquarters.
By implementing a 5G wireless environment, cloud PCs, laptops, instant messaging, and softphones, the company has minimized constraints regarding time and location, enabling employees to collaborate with greater flexibility.
Hana Financial Group is accelerating its AI transformation (AX) as a core growth engine, centered on the Cheongna Headquarters.
The financial group plans to link the IT infrastructure of its integrated data center with the business capabilities of its financial affiliates to strengthen collaboration among frontline financial operations and IT, data, and digital teams, while accelerating the development of AI- and data-driven financial services.
Through these efforts, the financial group aims to continuously identify new growth areas such as hyper-personalized financial services based on customer data, AI-driven financial services, digital assets, and future finance and secure innovative capabilities needed to proactively respond to changes in the global financial market.
“The opening of the Cheongna Headquarters is the culmination of our long journey to establish Hana Financial Town and marks the starting point of a major transformation that unites the capabilities of all Hana affiliates and employees toward one single goal,” Ham said.
“By combining Incheon’s competitiveness as a global city with financial expertise Hana Financial Group has cultivated, we will pave a new path for finance and vigorously launch a new century for Hana Financial Group through challenges and ceaseless innovation.”
