Lotte Confectionery Sweet Homes have been set up with proceeds from Pepero, popular chocolate covered sticks, being distributed by Lotte Confectionery in cooperation with the Save the Children charity.

Save the Children is an international non-profit NGO organization designed to improve the lives of children through better education, health care, economic opportunities as well as providing emergency aid in natural disasters.

Lotte Confectionery Sweet Homes are being built in rural farming and fisheries districts where children suffer from insufficient play and learning space compared to their counterparts in large cities.

They serve as a regional children¡¯s center for safety, play and education. Beneficiaries are given nutrients and fresh fruits each season on top of assistance in activities related to physical training.

Lotte Confectionery Sweet Homes was opened in Taean-gun, Chungcheongnam-do, the seventh such facility in Korea. In 2013, the first Lotte Confectionery Sweet Home was built in Wanju, Jeollabuk-do.

That was followed by Yechoen, Gyeongsangbuk-do, Yeongweol, Gangwon-do, Hongseong, Chungcheongnam-do, Yeonggwang, Jeollanam-do, and Bonghwa, Gyeongsangbuk-do.

The Doctor Xylitol Bus Program made its debut in 2013 by touring the Sohwa Sisters¡¯ House in Gwangju.

Under the program, about 70 tours have been made up to this year. Some 600 dentists, dental hygienists and volunteers participated in the tours in which about 5,000 dental patients were given treatment on 6,000 dental problems.
